McCarthy

goodwifthing

do you know what you're having one hopes for
a human being       a howlet     a girlchild
give history a black eye   wee beastie
specks of saintliness & labor sticking
in great heavy unbeautiful clots yes
this creature bled for fifty-two days &
we sink her like a stoned crow own daughterthing
a wolf bears a poor whelp to the wood she
translates an anglo-saxon sparrow relict
goody's shoes one each in two pits each half-
filled with stones the size of the average man's
fist wife as a verb is rare   obsolete
intransitive it is hard to wive &
thrive both in a year     so they say
